Charles Jeffrey, young designer and illustrator from Glasgow. He has been so widely talked about in the past year since being nominated for the LVMH prize. The only way to describe his brand LOVERBOY would be psychedelic, bright, hysterical and wacky.

He reminds me a lot of Alexander McQueen, who is a favourite of mine, due to the big productions he puts on for his fashion shows and how his collections could almost be considered as performance art. Jeffrey’s collections have a very personal meaning to him as he uses his experiences from his childhood to create garments. His most recent collection – Fall 2018/19 is inspired by the East London nightlife scene which is underground, bright and a little tacky…

One of the most important things that Charles stands for is gender in fashion and removing gender social constructs. He plays with the idea of a woman wearing a suit or a man wearing a dress. His opinion is that you should be free to dress however you like, live like you are diving into a dressing up box every day!
I’m really excited about what more Charles Jeffrey has to offer and how he can inspire and encourage other wacky, young designers like him to aim for the big catwalks!
