The Golden Globes, awards recognising excellence in film and television. If I’m honest, its not something that I usually keep up to date with, I might check Twitter the next day to see who won what but it’s nothing that I really bother with. Until this year. 2017 was a shocking year for allegations surrounding the film industry accusing important people of sexual harassment. To honour victims, the stars chose to wear black. Actresses wore black gowns while many men wore Time’s Up pin badges or black shirts with their suits.

Oprah Winfrey delivered a touching speech saying, “Speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare speak the truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up!”
The whole evening was inspirational, with every woman who stood on the stage saying something to do with the mistreatment of women in the film industry. I think it was such an incredible awards evening and it really highlighted how many issues there are.
