The Pink Photoshoot

During the pink project we were put into small groups to plan and execute a photoshoot. Once in our groups we had to discuss ideas for a photoshoot surrounding the colour pink. We concluded that gender came up a lot when researching pink and the idea that it’s stereotypically girly, feminine, cute and innocent. We wanted to challenge that so we decided to come up with ideas that subverted the colour. It didn’t take long for someone to suggest pink fur as that has obviously been a trend the past few months and once we thought about a fur coat we began to list other pink props and clothing items we could use such as a pink gun, a bandana, a Barbie, pink balloons and pink fishnet tights. Our plan was to have a ‘rebellious’, ‘bad-ass’ model, covered in pink.

We had to get the props and the clothes, then arrange a location and find a model. Luckily one of my flat mates was more than willing to help out and we decided to use the lilac wall of a group member’s kitchen. We had planned out a few shots such as close ups of the models face being covered up by the bandana, and a shot of the fur coat with the pink gun held in front.

We were so happy with how the photos turned out and I especially loved how many shades of pink we used so the contrast made the images so much more interesting. I’ll show our 5 favourite photographs in the next post.
