Virgil Abloh and Kanye West

Virgil Abloh was appointed as new artistic director for Louis Vuitton, he also is the chief executive officer of OFF WHITE. He entered the world of fashion through good friend Kanye West, they are keen collaborators and Time Magazine recently awarded Virgil as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Kanye West has continuously criticised the fashion industry for discriminating against african americans and because of his influence it has lead people to believe that he helped Virgil Abloh get the job at Louis Vuitton. Virgil Abloh is the perfect candidate for LV as he has history as an architect, designer, and has formal fashion training. He understands the crossover between athletic wear and high fashion and how it can make sense for LV.

There have been multiple reports that Kanye isn’t too happy for Virgil which makes absolutely zero sense to me. Surely he should be supporting other POC rather than putting them down out of jealousy.

Virgil Abloh is one of the best things to happen to modern fashion in my opinion as he can bring the streetwear of OFF WHITE with him and also create a much more diverse brand within Louis Vuitton.
